What is a CT Scan?
A Computerised Tomography (CT) scan is a sophisticated, non-invasive imaging test. Traditional X-rays look through the body from a single angle. In contrast, a CT machine passes a precise, fan-shaped beam of X-rays through the body. An advanced array of digital detectors measures the strength of these beams. Computer systems then process this data to generate highly detailed, cross-sectional images (slices) of your anatomy. Trained radiologists evaluate these images to detect, diagnose, and monitor various medical conditions.
Preparing for Your Scan
• Injections (Contrast Media): Certain scans require an intravenous injection to highlight blood vessels and organs.
• Fasting Requirements: If your specific scan requires an injection, you may need to fast for minimum 4 hours beforehand.
• Advance Verification: Not all scans require contrast. Please check with our department ahead of time for exact preparation instructions
